DIRECTV is a direct broadcast satellite (DBS) service that transmits digital satellite television and audio to households in the United States. DIRECTV is owned by DIRECTV Group, which in turn is controlled by News Corporation.

DIRECTV's History
When DIRECTV began in 1994, they were first to deliver an all-digital, high-power, multi-channel TV programming service via an 18 inch satellite dish. With their national reach, DIRECTV continues to offer consumers a superior alternative to cable. As they have grown, they have contributed to the evolution of TV with their electronic program guide (EPG), digital video recorder (DVR) services, interactive features, HD programming and quality customer service.

DIRECTV's Content
DIRECTV offers access to quality programming delivered to homes, airports, hotels, restaurants, hospitals, office buildings, airplanes, automobiles and portable electronics. They enhance their programming with interactive services like those in their exclusive NFL SUNDAY TICKET SuperFan package. They even produce their own entertainment programming CD USA, Championship Gaming Series and others. Plus, their HDTV service gives you the most robust programming lineup in the U.S.

DIRECTV's Technology
DIRECTV operates broadcast centers on the ground, monitors their satellites in space, installs set-top receivers into customers' homes and delivers industry-leading service and value. As an all-digital platform, they were the first to deliver an interactive on-screen program guide and pay per view ordering by remote control. Their innovations have led to five Emmy Awards and hundreds of filings for US patents as they introduced must-have technologies into the TV viewing experience.
