DirecTV wants to connect their customer with DVR services even when they are on the Go. A new device that DirecTV is selling called the ‘Nomad™’ will let subscriber’s side-load DVR content up to five mobile devices or computers for viewing on the go. The ‘Nomad™’ lets customers view the programming they have previously recorded on a computer or mobile device; however you aren’t able to view live TV. A bonus is after you pay the $149 equipment charge, you are no longer held to any monthly service fees. “We are currently in the soft-launch period for this product as we continue to evaluate ‘Nomad™’ before it’s official rollout later this year,” DirecTV spokeswoman Jade Ekstedt said.
Currently DirecTV nomad is compatible with PCs, iPhones and iPod touch devices. The device in the future will be compatible with Mac computers, iPad tablets and Android mobile devices. You must use your home network to connect through Wi-Fi and sync your mobile device with your HD DVR. Before purchasing the ‘Nomad™’ please note that certain programming may not be compatible with the device, some of which include pay-per-view programming, video-on-demand and 3D programs.
The ‘Nomad™’ is extremely easy to use, all you need to do is download and install the ‘Nomad™ App on your cell phone, laptop, or tablet to watch your recorded shows and movies from HD DVRs. Second step is to select which recorded show or movie from your HD DVR to watch on your cell phone, laptop, or tablet. Finally, sit back and enjoy your HD DVR recorded shows from anywhere.
