RAMAR Communications and DirecTV Reach an Agreement Allowing FOX and The CW Programming to Resume in Lubbock

After seven long months of negotiations, DirecTV has finally reached an agreement with Lubbock TV stations to reinstate Fox channel 34 and The CW. Brad Moran, president of Lubbock-based RAMAR Communications and general manager of FOX 34, said both side realize it was important to viewers to move forward. “The viewers, as we’re kind of lining up for the NFL this fall, it’s important… as ‘The X-Factor takes off,” Moran said. “And really what we see as most important is our four hours a day of local news in the morning and hour of prime-time news every night that the DirecTV viewers will have access to.

Now viewers in Lubbock can catch up on all the great Fox and The CW programming that they missed during the short break. DirecTV Will Launch ‘The Nick and Artie’ Show on a Radio and TV Near You

DirecTV has plans to turn sports talk radio on its ear. They plan to launch ‘Nick and Artie Show’, a manic, late-night look at the world of sports and entertainment from the perspective of two fans, who also happen to be hilarious stand-up comedians. This DirecTV produced and distributed show will feature Artie Lange, best known for his work on MADtv and the Howard Stern Show, and Nick DiPaolo, who has made frequent appearances on the Stern.

This show currently airs Monday through Friday from 10p.m. to 1 a.m. ET and is streamed live on the show’s website www.NickandArtie.com. Within the next year, DirecTV plans to simulcast the radio program on its Audience Network. This will air in addition to the popular The Dan Patrick Show which also began its simulcast on DirecTV in 2009. “’The Nick and Artie Show’ will be a hilarious, man-tacular departure from the standard sports talk radio format,” said Chris Long, senior vice president, DIRECTV Entertainment and Production. “Assuming they don’t get arrested, we’re looking forward to simulcasting the show on our Audience Network this spring.”

Phillippe will join season 5 of ‘Damages.’ Airing exclusively on DirecTV, ‘Damages’ has over 1.4 million viewers, some 300,000 of which are estimated to be DirecTV subscribers. Currently in Season 4 we catch up with the characters two years after the Tobin case, Ellen has moved on with her life. She is now an attorney at her old mentor’s firm content with her cases and colleagues. However deep down she is hoping for a bigger challenge. When she discovers her high school sweetheart has been through a traumatic experience while working for High Star, a private security firm hired by the U.S. government to carry out special missions in Afghanistan, she suspects foul play and asks Patty for help. Patty knows that trying a case against High Star can make Ellen’s career. Either that or ruin it!

Ryan Phillippe will be joining the cast for season 5 as Channing McClaren, the iconoclastic founder of a website devoted to corporate and government transparency. He is the linchpin in the cast that will pit Hewes (Close) and Ellen Parsons (Rose Byrne) against each other in the new season. Set to air next summer only on DirecTV.

DirecTV Ranks One Of The Highest In Consumer Satisfaction According To J.D. Power and Associates

Growth in residential television service revenues is being fueled by increased penetration of DVR hardware and additional services, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2011 U.S. Residential Television Service Satisfaction Study released today. J.D. Power and Associates is a leading global marketing information services company providing forecasting, performance improvement, social media and customer satisfaction insights and solutions. The study finds that video-on-demand (VOD) as well as increase in DVR hardware consumed has been a bright spot for service providers in 2011. Cable subscribers rose from 35-39 in 2010 and from 16-18 percent among satellite subscribers.

“Regular VOD viewing improves loyalty,” said Perazzini. “Thirty-nine percent of viewers who watch 10 or more hours of VOD per month consider themselves loyal to their provider, while the average among non-VOD users is 31 percent.” This study takes samples from customer satisfaction with cable, satellite and Internet protocol television providers in four regional segments, North Central, East, West, and South. The six factors that were considered are programming, performance and reliability, customer service, cost of service, billing, and offerings and promotions.

DirecTV remains the highest ranked in the East region with a score of 686. DirecTV Set To Launch The ‘Nomad’: Watch Your HD DVR Content From Anywhere

DirecTV wants to connect their customer with DVR services even when they are on the Go. A new device that DirecTV is selling called the ‘Nomad™’ will let subscriber’s side-load DVR content up to five mobile devices or computers for viewing on the go.
